Fox masks are a type of traditional Japanese mask, an item particularly associated with Shintoism and folk beliefs. The fox is considered sacred in Japanese myths and legends, and is especially worshipped as a messenger of the god Inari. Fox masks play an important role in these beliefs and festivals.

First, choose a fox mask of your choice and paint your favorite color or design on the plain mask. Using a variety of paints from acrylic to various other paints, color your ideas in the paint.

Fox masks are used in Nōgaku (traditional styles of Japanese teather Nō and Kyōgen) and Kagura (dances and songs performed to worship the gods). Also, fox masks are said to bring benefits such as a bountiful harvest, prosperous business and family safety.
